Meet the Executive


President - Sandra Asgill

Sandra immigrated to Ottawa 25 years ago and became a Certified Management Accountant in 1991 after continuing her education. She is currently Manager of Accounting Services at Ottawa Community Housing Corporation. She is the proud mother of two daughters.

Sandra joined the Barbados Ottawa Association in 1992, served as Treasurer and was later elected President from 1995- 1997.
She was re-elected to the Presidency in 2005 and was very proud to be at the helm in 2006 when the association celebrated its 40th anniversary. Sandra was recently re-elected for another two year term.

In 1996 Sandra became Secretary of NCBAC and has since served as Treasurer, Vice-President and was the first female President serving from 2002- 2006. As President of NCBAC in 2004 she was able to host a youth forum (42 youth from across Canada) to the 20th anniversary conference which was held in Montreal.



Vice-President - Faye Henry

​Faye left Barbados in 1971 and went to the United States where she stayed for 8 years. She came to Canada in 1979 and attended Algonquin College. Remaining close to her roots, she worked for the Barbados High Commissions office in Ottawa for a number of years. She is married and has three wonderful daughters; and currently she is a valued member of the Federal Government - Health Canada; where she has worked for over 26 years. All who knows Faye, know that if a party is swinging, she is on the dance floor, she loves cooking and sports

Secretary - Gail Waterman-Worrell

​Gail was born and raised in Ottawa Ontario to Barbadian Parents.  Her love for both Ottawa and Barbados   inspired her to join the Association and promote the greatness that both Ottawa and Barbados has to offer.  Gail joined the Association as an Executive Member in 2012 and believes that the Association is a great vehicle in which to celebrate and educate others on Barbadian culture and positively connect the two communities through various activities .A graduate of the University Ottawa, in the field of Sociology, Gail works in the area of Human Resources as she loves working with people.
In her spare time she loves singing, anything music related, and visiting Barbados as often as she can!





Committee Member - Linda Williams

​Linda was born and raised in Barbados and came to Canada in 1970. She resided in Montreal for ten years where she worked at Lachine General for ten years. In 1983 she relocated to Ottawa and worked at the Civic Hospital in various departments, the last post being in Radiology at the Heart Institute until retirement in 2004.  Linda has three loving children and four wonderful grandchildren. In her spare time her hobbies include travel, dancing and cooking.
